Tips & Strategies for Winning

Crossword Cash tests your vocabulary, speed, and pattern recognition, and because you're racing a clock and an opponent on the identical board, the order you play words in matters more than how many you know. Start by swiping every word you can see instantly, usually the short, common ones. Each word you place drops letters into the slots that cross it, and a slot with a known length and a placed letter has only a handful of possible answers.

Second, when nothing new jumps out of the wheel for a few seconds, stop staring at the wheel and start solving the grid. Pick the empty slot with the most placed letters in it and build the word that fits. Try the common letters first, E, T, A, O, I, N, S and R, and peel off endings like S, ED and ING before unscrambling the rest. • Play the Crossing Word First: Among the words you can see, swipe the one that touches the most empty slots. Every letter it places is a head start on two or three other answers.
• Skip and Come Back: If a slot won't fall in 10 to 15 seconds, play anything else you can see. The letters it adds usually make the stuck slot obvious when you return.
• Save Bonus Words for the End: Extra words score, but they add no letters to the grid. Finish the grid first, then farm bonus words with whatever time is left.
