Yes — every cash tournament and head-to-head match has a real prize pool funded by entry fees. Winnings are withdrawn through Skillz, the platform behind every cash match: back to the card or PayPal account you deposited with first, then, for U.S. players, to a linked bank account or by paper check.

Open the in-app wallet and choose PayPal, a Visa or Mastercard credit or debit card, Apple Pay (on iPhone), or a bank transfer through Aeropay. The minimum deposit is $5. All deposits are protected with bank-level encryption. App Store, Apple and Google Play gift cards can't be used for cash deposits.

Cash-outs run through Skillz. Withdrawals up to the amount you deposited go back to the card or PayPal account you used. U.S. winnings above that go to your bank if you have linked one through Skillz's Aeropay option (usually in under 24 business hours), or arrive by paper check, which Skillz says can take 4 to 6 weeks. Bonus cash can't be withdrawn.

Skillz doesn't publish a fixed minimum. The withdrawal screen shows exactly how much of your balance is eligible: deposited money has to be played in matches once before you can withdraw it, and bonus cash can't be withdrawn. You may be asked to verify your identity before a larger withdrawal.

Both players in a match get the exact same board, the same letters, the same blocks, and the same clock. Tournaments use identical seeded boards for every entrant. Only skill — not luck or randomness — decides the winner.

Yes. All transactions are encrypted to bank-grade standards, and winnings are paid out through trusted processors such as PayPal. Atay Games is built on the Skillz platform, whose Fair Play program governs matchmaking, anti-cheat, and ongoing system testing across every game on the platform — including ours.

Our anti-cheat system flags suspicious patterns, automated input, and account abuse in real time. Detected accounts are suspended and any winnings forfeited. If you suspect cheating in a match, report it from the post-match screen and our team will review it.

Skill-based gaming is legal in most U.S. states and many countries, but some regions restrict cash play. Cash entry is automatically disabled in restricted areas — you can still play free mode anywhere local laws allow. Check your state in our skill game legality guide.

Players are matched by skill rating, not just entry fee. New players start in beginner pools and graduate as their rating rises, so you'll always face opponents around your level.

Skillz, which runs our cash matches, marks the match as Aborted when your device disconnects mid-game, and the opposing player is automatically awarded the win and any prize. Skillz's terms say entry fees are non-refundable, but you can still report the match to Skillz support with its Match ID. Here's what to do if a match aborts.

Yes. Most games support private match invites — share a link or code with a friend and queue up directly without the public matchmaker.

You can request account closure from in-app Settings → Account → Close Account, or by emailing our support team. Any remaining balance will be paid out before closure.
